Since 2001, the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival has been awarding prizes which are generally aimed at the younger generation of artists.

Between 2015 and 2023, particularly innovative achievements in film, art and art mediation have been awarded an Honorary Award. This was aimed at creators of film and culture who are either from the region or are, in some special way, connected with Kassel Dokfest. The prize, which was endowed with €3.000, was donated by Kassel-based HÜBNER GmbH & Co. KG.

Award Winners

In 2023, the Honorary Award was not awarded to one person, but rededicated. HÜBNER sponsored the celebrations and special programs on the occasion of the 40th anniversary.

2022: Graduate School for Moving Image: Analog Realities, Digital Materialities (Kunsthochschule Kassel)

In 2021, in view of the challenges given by the COVID-19 pandemic and in agreement with the prize donor, the Honorary Award was being rededicated. HÜBNER promoted the visibility of the North Hessian work on the festival's online platform.
