Ulrike Franke’s and Michael Loeken’s film about birdwatchers is a compelling essay about the fragile relationship between humans and nature. While the number and diversity of birds are rapidly declining, the number of people peering through binoculars for various reasons is increasing at the same time – a fitting metaphor for the current state of the world.
