The Long Road to the Director's Chair
In 1973, the first international women's film seminar took place in Berlin. Well-known feminist activists and filmmakers were present. Among them: Vibeke Løkkeberg, who documented the event on film. She spoke to the participants about the representation of sexuality in the media and the working conditions and discrimination against women in the television industry. The event enabled many women in the industry to build their own network and is considered a milestone of the movement. Between interviews, we repeatedly find ourselves amid the chatter of smoking, discussing filmmakers – and feel a little bit as if we were there ourselves.
