Christiania

The Christiania free community began over 50 years ago as a social experiment on a former military site in Copenhagen and still exists today. Through sometimes bizarre and often shocking stories, the film shows how a community, founded on freedom, consensus and resistance, fights for its right to live by its own rules. Filmmaker Karl Friis Forchhammer presents Christiania through striking archive footage and from a very personal perspective: he was born there, is friends with its residents and moves into the community himself 35 years later.
