How do animal eyes view the human world? SILENT OBSERVERS shows life in a Bulgarian mountain village from the perspective of a cat, horse, donkey, goat, sheep, and dog. Without many words, the film provides insights into everyday life in a place that is threatened with extinction . Mundane things like hoof trimming stand alongside existential ones like the removal of a coffin. Superstition plays a third role – for example, when the cat jumps over the dead husband and the widow is convinced that her Ivan is now in its fur. Told in intense images with an experimental soundtrack.
