Maryam had to leave Iran at twenty, after the 1979 Revolution, leaving her parents behind. Decades later, as her parents get older, she installs surveillance cameras in every corner of her childhood home with the help of friends. This formally brilliant documentary turns surveillance into a gaze of care, longing, and exile, holding past, present, and future together within the walls of a single house. With this “digital reunion,” Maryam regains and loses her home in the same instant, watching a present that reaches her only as loss, while she tries to keep her parents alive with her gaze.
