At the Altmark military training area, everything revolves around the question: What if? To prepare for wartime, injuries are simulated, and tactics are discussed amid eerie concrete structures. SCENARIO observes various aspects of military training at a site where the past and future of war converge: In the 1930s, the Nazis were already using the site for military exercises. In addition, the film shows attempts by the Bundeswehr to project a positive image of itself and, at the same time, uses a distanced camera to leave it up to the viewers to take a stance on what is shown – and what is not.
