A., a young man from Vienna, is preparing to join the armed forces. He shaves his head and says goodbye to his studies, his family, his job, and his girlfriend. The people around him react with incomprehension and tell him anecdotes about the military and war. A., however, does not react to this, he turns his gaze to the camera and speaks to the audience: he wants out – out of a world full of fiction, and out of the film itself.
