With the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification, the working lives of many women in East Germany came to an abrupt end when they were laid off en masse from their jobs. Thirty years later, when filmmaker Gerd Kroske found old U-matic tapes containing interviews with former female workers, he set out to track down many of them and ask them about their experiences. Gerd Kroske's meticulously researched work is not only a unique film, but above all an important historical document that brings to light forgotten and suppressed life stories and the ruptures caused by reunification.
