Singing Wings

Hemen Khaledi's film is shaped by clear perspectives on care and community. In the Kurdish mountain village of Daratfe, 78-year-old Khadijeh lives with her husband Majid, surrounded by family members and villagers, alongside storks. Set against the backdrop of everyday life – accompanied by the chattering of beaks and subtle, carefully placed music – SINGING WINGS paints a calm portrait of the protagonist, whose family is on the verge of a major change. Instead of sentimentality and oversimplification, SINGING WINGS chooses to broaden our perspective.
