Queer as Punk

Shh...Diam! – Malay for “Shut up!” – is the name of the punk band formed by Faris, Yoyo and Yon, and thus the exact opposite of what they do. Their songs deal with everyday queer experiences. At their many concerts, they create small utopian spaces where they can say what needs to be said and loudly love who they love. For about three years, director Yihwen Chen accompanied the band to concerts and festivals staying close to their everyday challenges. Humor is one of their survival strategies; their resilience and perseverance in a hostile political climate are deeply impressive.
