The title of the film expresses the apparent scandal involved in a beauty contest in Haifa. Because they survived the Holocaust, twelve women, aged 77 to 95, are allowed to take part and talk about it. The film deals with what some see as the macabre nature of the event and at the same time impressively shows what liberation and recognition the show means for Rita, Tova and the others. They are being judged by their inner beauty and strength, their affirmation of life despite its unimaginable impositions, old age seemingly the least for them. (Livia Theuer)
