CN: Thematization of violence
“It is not the aim of the film to promote opposition of any kind”: the statement of the opening credits is contrary to the manifesto that gives the film its title, which by definition intends a public declaration of (political) objectives. The young people in the film find themselves in precisely this dichotomy, in opposition to the ruling system and abusive authorities, but caught in the spiral of violence. MANIFESTO gives a disturbing insight into today’s Russia from the perspective of a young generation in countless YouTube videos. One question remains unanswered: Is there a way out? (Anja Klauck)
