// The invention of the moving image complicated our relationship with reality as it propels us away once more, arguably even alienates us. Since the beginning of film history, documentary filmmakers often understood this and have thus always accompanied the view of reality through the camera with a reflection of their own mediality. Five films trace this tradition into the present realities of Skype, YouTube, and 3-D shooters – some of the contemporary forums framing our discussions of reality.

From numerous reprints, copies, and multiplications emerge pictures reminiscent of the physical origins of analog film production.
